Biography

Comedian Mike Birbiglia achieved comedy cult status in 2006 with the nationwide release of his Comedy Central CD Two Drink Mike and Medium Man on Campus college tour.

For the past 6 years, Mike has toured the country honing the act that would make him one of the youngest comedians to ever appear on The Late Show with David Letterman. Along the way, he popularized the phrase “Cracker Please” and renamed George W. Bush “Whiffle Ball Tony.”

Mike is a talk show regular and the star of two Comedy Central Presents specials, but what has truly galvanized his fan base is his “Secret Public Journal,” a weekly blog that Birbiglia emails to thirty thousand fans and broadcasts to millions on the nationally-syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show. These personal diary entries evoke the nostalgic tone of David Sedaris and the relatability of Bill Cosby, and have truly defined Birbiglia’s persona.

In the fall of 2006, Mike signed a deal with NBC to develop a sitcom based on this Secret Public Journal. In the meantime, Birbiglia continues to tour and workshop his next CD, “Sleepwalk with Me,” a painfully funny one-man show about first love, first breakups, and how his own sleepwalking disorder nearly killed him.
