Biography

Facilitator of Global Democracy Ambassador L. Paul Bremer, III served as Presidential Envoy to Iraq in 2003 and 2004. As the Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority, he led efforts to restore Iraq’s economy, build an open democratic political system and deal with mounting security threats. Ambassador Bremer has received numerous awards for his public service in Iraq, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award. He writes about his experience in his book, My Year in Iraq: The Struggle to Build a Future of Hope.

Experienced Business Leader Ambassador Bremer excels at applying the lessons learned in his overseas assignments to business. During his 14 years in the private sector, Ambassador Bremer directed numerous private and public companies. In his capacities as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marsh Crisis Consulting Company, a crisis management firm, and as Managing Director of Kissinger Associates, a strategic consulting firm headed by former Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, Ambassador Bremer further applied his practical insights on political risk in international business. Ambassador Bremer received his BA from Yale University, a CEP from the Institut D’Etudes Politiques of the University of Paris and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Programs Integrity and Leadership An oxymoron? CEOs and political leaders are falling from their pinnacles—but only when they get caught. What were they doing wrong and how were they able to lead others at all? With over four decades experience in government and the private sector, Ambassador Bremer is in a unique position to discuss the principles of effective leadership. He puts “integrity” at the top of his list of essential leadership qualities. He believes these can be learned by example and by an emphasis on basic values.

A Keen Perspective on the Energy Crisis As one of the world’s leading experts on political risks to business, Ambassador Bremer is well positioned to comment on economic and security issues arising from America’s continued dependence on energy from abroad. Ambassador Bremer provides his perspective on likely political and economic threats to supplier countries in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Iraq & the War on Terrorism: Based on firsthand experience, Ambassador Bremer recounts how the war in Iraq is related to our country’s national security. He addresses the current status of Iraq to shed light on controversial issues of the war and the ongoing battle against terrorism.
