Biography One of the culinary world's most celebrated figures, Tom Colicchio returns as lead judge for Bravo's Top Chef. The Emmy-nominated show premieres its sixth season in Fall 2009. A self-taught cook, in July of 1994, Colicchio (along with partner Danny Meyer), opened three star rated GRAMERCY TAVERN in Manhattan's Gramercy Park neighborhood. His cooking at Gramercy earned consistent recognition: after three nominations for James Beard's “Best Chef NY Award,” he won it in 2000. In March 2001, Colicchio opened CRAFT. Four months later, William Grimes of the New York Times awarded Craft with three stars naming it "a vision of food heaven." His other acclaimed restaurants include: CRAFTBAR, CRAFTSTEAK, and a chain of 11 ‘WICHCRAFT sandwich shops. Tom’s award-winning cookbooks include Think Like a Chef and Craft of Cooking. Tom’s third cookbook, inspired by ‘wichcraft, will release in March 2009. Colicchio continues to be celebrated in publications such as Saveur, House Beautiful, Gourmet, Food & Wine, Esquire, GQ and New York Magazine. He regularly appears on national television shows, including The Today Show, The Martha Stewart Show and ABC’s Nightline. Tom and his restaurants give back to the community by supporting charities including Share Our Strength, Children of Bellevue, City Meals-on-Wheels, The College Fund, Pediatric AIDS Foundation and Doctors of the World.
